Food poisoning affects millions of American’s every year & is, unfortunately, more common than most people know. Food poisoning can happen anywhere; whether you are cooking at home or out to eat at a 5-star restaurant there is no telling when your food may be contaminated. First Call Urgent Care is here to give you some knowledge on Food poisoning as well as give you some advice on how to stay away from some situations that may cause food poisoning.

Symptoms

Food poisoning happens relatively quickly from coming in contact with the infected food; to the symptoms that you may feel. Some symptoms that you may experience from food poisoning are:

  • Stomach cramps
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Weakness
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Fever

If you are feeling any of these symptoms the best thing you should do is get some rest & keep your body hydrated. If you are experiencing nausea & diarrhea it is possible you may be dehydrated. Food posing is not something that you should want to handle on your own. If possible go to your nearest urgent care center for treatment.

Our Procedure

We can check for food posing with a stool test. Food poisoning may induce a lot of pain in the abdomen, if this is happening to you, we recommend you take some Advil & Tylenol. Some red flags you should be aware of that will most likely cause you to get ill from food poisoning is the following :

  • Raw Seafood
  • Uncooked Food/Meats
  • Old Food
  • Food that has been laying out & gone stale

The bacteria for food poisoning is transferred through heat, so if you feel a portion of food is not good & it has been cooked on a stove please stay away from all foods cooked on the same surface.
